Anthem released this today for agents.

I just got acknowledgement from Anthem that I got an “asthmatic” approved on an individual plan!! That is very good news.

Anthem Healthcare Reform Tools and Resources

——————————————————————————–

Anthem would like you to know that they are doing everything they can to make sure that brokers and employers are up to date on healthcare reform. They have a new microsite, anthem.com/healthcarereform, has all the latest news and interactive tools such as a small business tax credit calculator to help you determine whether your clients with 2-25 employees qualify for a tax credit. Additional tools include a employers’ guide to reform complete with key dates and details, and a grandfathering decision support tool to help employers decide if keeping their existing health insurance plans is the right thing for them.

Individual News

The PPACA requires that carriers give members healthcare reform benefits for non-grandfathered plans at the beginning of their policy year. If a member has a contract where the policy year is different from the calendar year, the benefits will start on the policy renewal date. This affects the following plans: Blue Preferred, CO Major Medical, Custom Plus, Gropu Conversion PPO Basic & Standard, and HSA Compatible. This week Anthem will be mailing letters to all members enrolled in those five plans, detailing their eligibility for open enrollment and their new PPACA benefits, depending on when their policy renews.

Anthem Health Rewards

Anthem Health Rewards is a program that rewards employees for doing something to promote their health. All employees have to do is participate in a health or wellness program (like Future Moms, ConditionCare, etc.) and they earn points. These points can be redeemed for gift cards, premium discounts, or deposits into their health savings accounts. For details on this program, please contact your Anthem sales representative.

New Medicare Advantage Plans for 2011

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will no longer offer private fee-for-service plans in 2011. Anthem will be offering two different Medicare Advantage plans to members 65 years of age or older; a Local Preferred Provider Organization (LPPO) and a HMO plan. Members get the following benefits:

Ability to see in-network doctors and hospitals across the country.
Retirees get the same benefits no matter where they go in the U.S.
Existing groups deal with just one healthcare company for both active and retired employees.
To qualify, groups must have 50 or more Medicare-eligible retirees (including spouses) who are older than 65. In order to sell these plans and make commissions, you must be certified for Medicare Advantage and Part D annually. For more information, please call you Anthem sales representative.
